Insurance and How It Helps You

There are more drivers hitting the road every year. This can lead to an increased likelihood of a collision. If you get in a car accident, the car insurance you own can make a big difference in how much you have to pay. How can you decide what type of insurance you need and where you should go to buy it? Required coverage varies by state/province but usually includes the following: Liability: It pays for the expenses you are responsible for in a car collision, including property damage and injury. Bodily injury damages include medical fees, and lost wages. Property damage includes car repair costs or loss of property use. If you are sued, it also pays your legal fees. State laws usually mandate minimum amounts of liability insurance, but larger amounts can be purchased and are extremely helpful. Personal Injury Protection: Personal injury protection pays for hospital bills and other medical treatment for you or your passengers, no matter who was responsible for the accident. It is sometimes referred to as no-fault coverage. This insurance may also cover lost wages, service replacement and funeral costs. The minimum amount of this insurance is typically set by local government. Medical Payments: This coverage can be purchased in states that are not considered no-fault; it will pay regardless of who carries responsibility for a collision. If this policy is bought, the insured person will receive payment for necessary medical or funeral costs. Collision: Pays for damages to your car caused by a collision. Comprehensive: Cover your car from damages from other sources by purchasing this type of coverage. This may include protection from robbery, vandalism, and weather damage. Uninsured Motorist: Pays for damages when an insured person is in a crash caused by a driver who does not have liability insurance or by a person who cannot be identified (usually a hit-and-run driver). Under-Insured Motorist: Just like uninsured motorist protection, this type of insurance covers you from people driving without enough insurance coverage. Other types of car insurance, like car rental, are also available. State Farm Agent Clermont
